School Club: Krafty Kids

From the crafts that we made we have raised £87.00. Mrs. Goddard went to OXFAM and bought on our behalf a toilet , a goat, 25 trees to be planted and provided fresh drinking water for 50 people in Africa.
Who are we?
WE ARE THE KRAFTY KIDS
From
Bramham Primary School
We have been meeting every Wednesday lunchtime since 2004 at school with Mrs. Goddard to make lots of things for ourselves and things to sell on our stalls at our Summer and Christmas Fairs.
In July this year we had a stall at the village gala. Well, we managed to raise £82.35p to buy some essential items for people in Africa and India who are not as fortunate as us. We decided what we wanted to buy and Mrs. Goddard went to Oxfam in Wetherby and got the things we wanted.
We now have some new children who have joined our group and this week we made bracelets from buttons. Karl made one for his mum. Last week we made some paper flowers and put them in a vase at school. Everyone said how lovely they looked and Mrs. O’Neill wants us to show her how to make them!

" I enjoyed making the flowers, we used tissue paper and a green cane to secure the flower together. I found it hard to begin with but it got easier with practice. I'd like to make some more flowers at home!" Kate Year 4.

Over the last few weeks 'Krafty Kids' have had lots of fun making a variety of things for themselves. During our first week back at school the children made salt dough monsters which are still waiting to be varnished followed the week later by paper flowers for their mums. These were so successful we made a 'bunch' to put on the bookcase outside the Key Stage 2 classrooms. Last week we made beautiful bracelets from buttons!
This week we have been making things on a Halloween Theme. After half term we will be busy making items to sell at our Christmas Fair and hopefully raise enough money to be enough 'Funusual Gifts' from Oxfam.
Krafy Kids - My Point of View
I enjoy 'Krafty Kids', well, we all enjoy 'Krafty Kids', it's a nice thing for girld to do, well a few boys have joined now! - it's just GREAT!
I mean, one week we'll be making halloween bags, for instance, and the next week we'll be making a fake flower! - We love 'Krafty Kids'

The children never cease to amaze me - They've done it again!!!
The money which the children have raised over christmas from the sale of gifts and cards has enabled them to buy yet more 'funusual gifts' from Oxfam.
Chloe and Hollie have conducted a survey asking the children what they would most like to spend the money raised on. Favourite choices were:
A school desk and a chair (£15)
A Goat (£24)
Well done everyone you really are MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

This Spring Term the children have been working on a variety of projects over the last few weeks. These include gifts for Mother's Day, learning to knit and creating a collage depicting areas of the local community using a variety of fabrics and textiles. The collage is a permanent display in the entrance hall to school. Please come and admire the children's hard work.
Look out for our stall at the Food, Floral and Craft Fair at Bramham Park on 21st - 22nd April 2007.
